• Executive Trainee (Chemical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Chemical/ Petrochemical / Chemical Technology / Petrochemical Technology / Chemical Technology & Polymer Science/ Chemical Technology & Plastic Technology with minimum 65% marks. 
• Executive Trainee (Instrumentation): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electrical & Instrumentation/ Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics with minimum 65% Marks.  
• Executive Trainee (Electrical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Electrical/ Electrical, Electronics & Power / Electrical & Electronics/ Electrical & Power with minimum 65% marks.
• Executive Trainee (Mechanical): Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Mechanical/ Production/ Production & Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Mechanical & Automobile with minimum 65% marks.
• Note: Relaxation of 5% in minimum percentage of marks in essential qualification will be provided in respect of SC, ST and PwBD category. However, the above relaxation in minimum qualifying percentage of marks in education qualification is applicable only in respect of posts which are reserved for SC/ ST/PwBD Categories. SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against unreserved posts shall be considered under general standard of merit and no relaxation in Minimum Percentage of marks in Educational Qualification shall be available to them. Further, no rounding off in marks to the next higher digit will be allowed for calculation of percentage of marks secured in Bachelor degree/ Master Degree etc. e.g 64.99% will not be considered as 65% for UR category.

GAIL Executive Trainee Selection Process 2026

• GAIL will be utilizing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering ‐ 2027 Marks (GATE‐2027 Marks) for recruitment of Executive Trainees in the above-mentioned disciplines during the year 2027.
• Based on the GATE‐2027 marks and requirement, candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process for the position of Executive Trainee in the above disciplines.

How to Apply

• Eligible and interested candidates must carefully complete a sequential two-part registration workflow across the national testing portal and the official PSU portal to successfully submit their candidacy:
• Phase 1: GATE Examination Registration
• Register for GATE: Candidates must first register and successfully appear for the GATE examination in their specific discipline paper (Chemical – CH, Electrical – EE, Instrumentation – IN, or Mechanical – ME) through the official GOAPS portal managed by the organizing IIT.
• Secure Registration Credentials: Upon successful registration and exam fee payment, retain your unique login credentials and subsequently download your GATE Admit Card, which contains your mandatory Registration Number.
• Phase 2: GAIL Online Application Portal
• Access the Careers Portal: Navigate to the official GAIL website and proceed to the ‘Careers’ section to view the active notification link for Executive Trainee recruitment.
• Submit Online Form: Fill out the online application form by accurately mapping your personal, academic, and specific GATE Registration Number during the active application window (17 February 2027 to 18 March 2027).
• Upload Documentation: Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph, signature, and category/qualification documents as per the prescribed digital dimensions.
• Final Submission: Review all entered data carefully, submit the form before the closing hours on 18 March 2027 (6:00 PM), and print/save a hard copy of the final system-generated application confirmation page for future selection stages.
