2 Beating Retreat Ceremony at Historic Vijay Chowk, New Delhi​

The Beating Retreat ceremony was held at the historic Vijay Chowk in New Delhi . The musical bands of the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and Central Armed Police Forces – CAPFs enthralled the audience with mesmerizing tunes. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu , Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar , Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud , Defense Minister Rajnath Singh , Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt , Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan , Army Chief General Manoj Pandey , Navy Chief Admiral R. . Hari Kumar , Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary , and other dignitaries were present. The Beating Retreat originated in the 1950s when Major Roberts of the Indian Army indigenously performed the unique ceremony of performing with a mass band. It symbolizes the age-old military tradition when soldiers would stop fighting, withdraw from the battlefield and return to their camps at sunset.

3. The country recorded a growth rate of more than 7% for the third consecutive year​

The country has recorded a growth rate of more than seven percent for the third consecutive year . According to the report of the Indian Economic Review of the Department of Economics, India’s commitment to ensuring steady economic growth is making available the necessary investment resources to mitigate climate change and carbon emissions. Estimating the good condition of India’s financial sector, the review said that capital investment in the public sector has increased in the last 10 years. The economy has strengthened due to the implementation of structural reforms since 2014. The report said that there have been positive changes in the areas of employment, ease of doing business, agriculture sector, e-commerce and climate. Noting significant improvement in women-led development, the report said women’s bank accounts have increased under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana . The proportion of women having bank accounts has increased from 53 percent in 2015-16 to 78.6 percent in 2019-21 . Female labor participation has increased from 23.3 percent in 2017-18 to 37 percent in 2022-23. The education level of women has also improved. Enrollment of women in higher secondary education has increased from 24.5 percent in 2005 to 58.2 percent in 2022 . Regarding India’s strong digital infrastructure, the report said that due to changes in the authentication mechanism, the cost of e-KYC has come down from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5. India is the world’s third largest financial technology economy after the US and UK. The review also said that due to increase in the capital of domestic and global investors in the Indian stock market, India has become the fourth largest stock market in the world.

4 Agreement between the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Central Government for the revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP Link Project in New Delhi​


A tripartite MoU for the Revised Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP Link Project was signed between the Government of Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan and the Central Government in New Delhi . Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that this project will benefit 13 districts of Chambal and Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Water availability will increase in water-scarce districts like Morena, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Bhind and Sheopur.

5 Joint military exercise ‘Sada Tansiq’ of India and Saudi Arabia started in Rajasthan​

The initial edition of India and Saudi Arabia ‘s joint military exercise ‘ Sada Tanseeq ‘ began at Mahajan in Rajasthan ‘s Bikaner district . This exercise is scheduled to begin from January 29 and continue till February 10, 2024. The Saudi Arabian contingent of 45 defense personnel is being led by the Royal Saudi Land Forces . The Indian Army contingent also consists of 45 personnel, represented by a battalion of the Brigade of the Guards (Mechanized Infantry) . The objective of this joint exercise is to train troops of both the countries for joint operations in semi-desert terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

6 Release of Framework for Voluntary Carbon Market in Agriculture Sector and Accreditation Protocol of Agroforestry Nurseries​

Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs Shri Arjun Munda released the Framework for Voluntary Carbon Market in Agriculture Sector and Accreditation Protocol of Agroforestry Nurseries in Delhi . On this occasion, Union Minister Shri Munda said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has prepared a framework to promote Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) in the agricultural sector of the country with a view to encourage small and medium farmers to avail carbon credit. Have done. Introducing farmers to the carbon market will not only benefit them but also accelerate the adoption of environment-friendly agricultural practices. He requested full cooperation from the concerned ministries of the Center and the States and other concerned organizations to promote the carbon market in the interest of farmers.

Top Employers Institute has announced the top employers in the year 2024 . The institute has certified NTPC Limited as a Top Employer in India 2024 . To qualify for certification, NTPC completed the following steps: HR Best Practice Survey, Verification and Audit. NTPC’s performance score has been measured at par with international standards and NTPC has achieved the Top Employer status. The HR Best Practice Survey covers 6 areas of HR which include 20 topics like employee strategy, work environment, talent recruitment, learning, diversity, equality and inclusion, wellness. Shri Dilip Kumar Patel , Director (HR), NTPC, received the award on behalf of NTPC at the Top Employers 2024 Certification Ceremony event held in Singapore on January 25, 2024 .

8 Success in changing the direction of Chenab River near Rattle Hydroelectric Project in Jammu and Kashmir.​

A major achievement was achieved in the 850 MW Rattle Hydroelectric Project in the state with the diversion of the course of Chenab River through diversion tunnels at Drabashalla in Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir at 11.30 am on January 27, 2024 . River diversion will enable the dam area on the river bed to be isolated to undertake the vital activity of dam excavation and construction. This will expedite the dam construction activities and help in reducing any delay in the project work so that the project can be completed on the scheduled date of May 2026. The work of completing this Rattle project is being done by Rattle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL) , which is a joint venture between NHPC Limited and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir , whose stake is 51:49 percent respectively . Rattle Hydroelectric Project with an installed capacity of 850 MW is located on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The project was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in January 2021, with a total cost of Rs 5281.94 crore.

9 Government declares ‘Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)’ as ‘unlawful organization’ under UAPA for 5 more years​

The Government declared ‘ Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) ‘ an ‘ Unlawful Association ‘ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967 for a further period of five years. Is. The previous ban on SIMI was imposed on January 31, 2019, by Gazette Notification No. SO 564(E). SIMI is engaged in promoting terrorism in the country, disturbing peace and communal harmony which is prejudicial to the sovereignty, security and integrity of India.

10 Prime Minister interacts with students, teachers and parents during Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024​

11 FIH Hockey5s Women World Cup: Netherlands beats India in final​

India had to face defeat in the final of the HIF Hockey5s Women World Cup 2024 in Muscat , Oman . The Netherlands won the inaugural season title, winning 7–2. FIH had organized the World Cup in this format for the first time. In the second half, the Indian women’s team tried to make a comeback and scored two goals. For India, Jyoti Chhatri (20th minute) and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal (23rd minute) scored. However, India could not catch the Dutch team. Before the full-time hooter, Netherlands’ Kalse scored another goal to increase the victory margin to 7-2.

International Cricket Council – ICC Has ended the suspension on Sri Lankan cricket with immediate effect . Sri Lanka Cricket has been reinstated as a member of the International Cricket Council after a two-month suspension. On 10th November 2023, Sri Lankan Cricket will be given I.C.C. Was suspended for violation of responsibilities as a member.

Indian Newspaper Day is celebrated every year on 29 January in India. Because on this day, 29 January 1780 , the first weekly Indian newspaper “ Hicky’s Bengal Gazette ”, also known as “ Calcutta General Advertiser ” , was published . The first newspaper published in Asia was Hickey’s Bengal Gazette. It was published on 29 January 1780 in Kolkata, the capital of the country at that time. It changed the way newspapers worked at a time when it took days for news to reach the intended audience. But since the British knew that newspapers could harm their government, they decided to stop publishing them in 1782 . The credit for bringing printing press to India goes to the Portuguese and the credit for starting newspapers goes to the Europeans . In the year 1557, some Christian priests published a book in Goa , which was the first book to be printed in India.

14 KM Cariappa Jayanti 2024​

28 January marks the birth anniversary of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa, the inaugural Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army . Recognized as a national hero, Cariappa’s vital role in shaping the Indian Army from colonial to independent India remains revered. Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa was born on January 28, 1899 in Shaniwarsanthe , Coorg province, in a farming family of the Kodava clan. Cariappa’s military career spanned nearly three decades, beginning with his service in the British Indian Army after the First World War. He rose through the ranks, becoming the first Indian officer to attend the Staff College in Quetta and later commanded 1/7 Rajputs. He was the first Indian to lead a battalion. After independence, he served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff and led strategic operations to reclaim key areas in Kashmir. After retirement in 1953, Cariappa served as the Indian High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand until 1956. He died on May 15, 1993, leaving a legacy of dedication and service. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Government of India posthumously honored him with the rank of Field Marshal on April 28, 1986.
