IIT Madras BS Degree students hosted the Second Edition of ‘Paradox 2023’: A Fusion of Culture,
Technology, and Learning,’
The institute awarded the provisional diploma and degree certificates to it’s 2nd batch of BS degree
students on 27th may 2023. With Shri . Venket Vishwanath as the chief guest .
Shri. Venkat Vishwanathan, the visionary behind LatentView Analytics, is a proud alumnus of IIT Madras
and completed his MBA from IIM Calcutta. He motivated the students to focus more on a
entrepreneurial career and also explained the perspectives of trenches in data science.
IIT Madras director, prof. V Kamakoti, said, “Paradox is a platform for students to showcase their talents
and skills. We are delighted to see such a huge turnout and the enthusiasm of the students. We hope
that the fest has inspired the students to pursue their passions and achieve their goals.”
Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, Professor In-Charge, BSc in Programming and Data Science, IIT Madras, said,
“Data Science is a thriving business with a high demand for qualified resources. We are in the process of
creating a pool of trained resources from India to meet the global requirements in this domain.”
Paradox fest took place from the 25th to the 28th of May 2023 on the vibrant IIT Madras campus. With an
impressive turnout, more than 3,000 students from various parts of the country .
Paradox had events in four categories, namely technicals, professionals, culturals, and sports. The
technical events provide a platform for hands-on learning, where participants hone their skills in cuttingedge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), hackathons, game and extension building. Also,
cricket enthusiasts, badminton and table tennis lovers can witness the clash of titans as talented teams
compete in an intense battle for supremacy. Additionally, the fest incorporates online gaming
tournaments, introducing participants to the virtual realm of skill-based competitions.
The cultural events was in its full swing at the fest, captivating audiences like On-stage, thoughtprovoking critical thinking sessions engage minds, sparking stimulating discussions and debates. The
dance performances mesmerize with their grace and rhythmic expressions, while the music transcends
genres, fascinating all. This fest encapsulates a diverse array of engaging activities, catering to a wide
range of interests and artistic pursuits such as photography, drama, memes, and painting
The professionals’ events were also well-received, with students presenting innovative business ideas
and marketing strategies. The cultural events were a hit among the audience, with students showcasing
their talents in dance, music, and fashion. The sports events were also highly competitive, with students
displaying their skills in various sports.
The events was graced by visionary keynote speakers, esteemed scholars, and distinguished experts from
diverse fields, sharing their wisdom in their respective domains. The workshops covered topics such as
entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.
The fest concluded with a grand closing ceremony, where the winners of various events were felicitated.
The winners received cash prizes, certificates, and trophies.
Overall, Paradox 2023 had turned out to be an unforgettable experience that will leave an indelible mark
on the students’ journey towards personal and academic development. IIT Madras is looking forward to
host the next edition of the fest “PARADOX ’24”
