Tehran starring John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar is likely to skip theatres and release directly on OTT.

Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films the action thriller is expected to premiere on Zee5 though the exact release date is yet to be confirmed. Reports suggest August 15 as a possible date but an official announcement is still awaited.

An industry insider revealed that Tehran is a gripping geopolitical thriller made in an international style. With a runtime of under two hours and dialogues in Hindi, Farsi and English, the makers felt it would be better suited for digital release.

This film marks John Abraham’s first major OTT release as a lead actor. Earlier, his production Sardar Ka Grandson released on Netflix in 2021, where he made a brief appearance.

Directed by Arun Gopalan and also starring Madhurima Tuli, Tehran is inspired by true events and was shot across Glasgow, Mumbai, and Delhi.
