is a low-budget film that not many know that was released in the first place. is making his comeback after a long gap with this film, which is a romantic drama. Read our review here.

Market Mahalakshmi Story: Paravteesam is a software engineer who lives his life as per his father’s wish. One fine day, he falls in love with a vegetable-selling girl, Market Mahalakshmi(Praneekaaanvika). Falling head over heels, seeing her independent nature, Paravateesam makes up his mind that he will marry her at any cost. But sadly, Market Mahalakshmi does not agree to his love. When things look okay, Paravateesam’s dad comes into the picture and spoils the love story even more. How Paravareesam solves his problems in the rest of the story.

Performances: Paravteesam is making his comeback to films after a long gap. In the film, he plays a son who has no choice but to obey his parents and does well in the film. His performance in the climax was pretty impressive. Praneekaanvika as Market Mahalakshmi looks rustic in the beginning with no expressions, but she holds her role well as the film passes on. , as the drunkard is neat in his role, and the actor who played the heroine’s father was also impressive.

Technical Aspects: The entire movie unfolds within the vibrant hustle and bustle of a vegetable market. Consequently, the production values of the film are passable at best. However, the camerawork adeptly captures the essence of the middle-class setting. Joe Emmav’s musical compositions are adequate, though his background score truly shines. While the dialogue delivery leaves an impression, the screenplay falls flat, marred by a sense of monotony.

Analysis: The initial half of Market Mahalakshmi treads a familiar path, offering nothing particularly groundbreaking. It revolves around the protagonist stumbling into a vegetable market, where he encounters a self-reliant girl and endeavors to win her affection. While Mahboob Basha injects some humor that resonates, much of the first half lacks innovation and fails to captivate.

However, the latter half of the film introduces substantial depth. A compelling conflict arises when the girl’s father demands dowry, leaving the hero powerless. The film skillfully portrays this dilemma, culminating in the heroine’s eventual acceptance of the hero’s love, albeit in the closing moments. Although the pacing of her character’s transformation may seem slow, it aligns coherently with the overarching narrative.

Market Mahalakshmi may not break new ground, but it effectively underscores the importance of perseverance in matters of love. Praneekaanvika’s portrayal of the female lead is marked by a stubborn resolve, yet the young actress delivers a commendable performance, adding depth to her character. This is the best part of the film and engages the audience.

Verdict: Overall, Market Mahalakshmi has a very simple and routine storyline. But the manner in which the second half is written and narrated looks good in the film. The relatable emotions during this part are a major highlight of this coming-of-age film.

Bottom Line – Realistic love drama

Rating: 2.5/5
