1 More than 100 terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor, masterminds of IC-814 and Pulwama attacks also killed: DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai

The Indian Army has killed more than 100 terrorists under ‘ Operation Sindoor ‘ , a precise and planned action taken in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) . These terrorists also included the main conspirators involved in the IC-814 plane hijacking in 1999 and the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack . This information was given by Army Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai during a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday. Lieutenant General Ghai said that Operation Sindoor was planned after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. He said, “The purpose of Operation Sindoor was to punish the conspirators of terror and eliminate their hideouts. India does not tolerate terrorism in any form.” According to DGMO, the terrorists killed in India’s action included deadly terrorists like Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudassir Ahmed. These terrorists were directly involved in the IC-814 hijacking and the Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF jawans were martyred.

In May 2025, the state cabinet led by Haryana Chief Minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini has decided to implement a new scheme called “ Pandit Lakhmi Chand Kalakar Samajik Samman Yojana ” for the welfare of senior artists and scholars of the state. Under the new scheme, eligible artists will get a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 as financial assistance from the government . 4 Maharashtra government launched ‘Adi Shakti Abhiyan’ for women empowerment, allocated Rs 10.50 crore

On May 7, 2025 , Maharashtra State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis has approved the launch of statewide women-centric campaign ‘ Adishakti Abhiyan ’ to promote women empowerment at the grassroots level with a budget of Rs 10.50 crore . It aims to tackle critical social issues such as malnutrition, maternal and infant mortality, child marriage and gender-based violence, as well as increase women’s participation in local governance. The initiative was launched at Chaundi (Maharashtra), the birthplace of famous 18th-century queen of the Holkar dynasty Ahilyabai Holkar, on her 300th birth anniversary . This is the first Cabinet meeting held outside Mumbai. 5 Indian Government introduced chip based e-passports to ensure safety of passengers

In May 2025, the Government of India (GoI) has introduced chip-based e-passports across the country with an aim to ensure the security of travellers and enhance international travel . These passports are equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and have antenna embedded as inlays. The main advantage of the e-passport is its enhanced ability to maintain the integrity of the passport holder’s data. These e-passports were rolled out on a pilot basis on April 01, 2024 , as part of the Passport Seva Programme-Version 2.0 (PSP-V2.0) . These chips store the passport holder’s data in encrypted form, including biometric information, making it difficult to forge passports. The Government of India has introduced significant updates to the passport regulations in 2025, focusing on enhancing security, privacy, and inclusivity.
6 Airtel Africa partners with SpaceX’s Starlink to expand satellite internet services in Africa

In May 2025 , Airtel Africa, a subsidiary of New Delhi (Delhi)-based Bharti Airtel, has partnered with United States of America (USA) -based Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), led by Elon Musk , to deploy Starlink ‘s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet services across Africa. As of May 2025, SpaceX has secured the necessary operating licenses in nine of the 14 countries where Airtel Africa operates. Regulatory processes are underway for the remaining five countries.
