1 Now you can withdraw cash in a moving train, India’s first ATM installed in Panchvati Express

Indian Railways has installed the country’s first train ATM in Mumbai-Manmad Panchvati Express for the convenience of passengers . After this facility, passengers can easily withdraw cash in a moving train. The ATM has been installed in the AC coach of the train and its trial has been successfully completed. This machine allows passengers to withdraw cash even while the train is running. It has been introduced as part of the Innovative and Non-Fair Revenue Ideas (INFRIS) of Indian Railways. This initiative has been started in collaboration between the Bhusaval division of Indian Railways and Bank of Maharashtra. Railway officials said that the trial went well and the machine worked smoothly throughout the journey. However, there were network related problems for some time in the section between Igatpuri and Kasara, as this region is known for poor signal due to tunnels and limited mobile connectivity.

The sixth edition of the India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise Dustlik-6 began at the Foreign Training Center in Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra . The Indian contingent is represented by a battalion of the Jat Regiment comprising 60 soldiers and the Indian Air Force. The Defense Ministry has said that this exercise is an annual training event, which is held alternately in India and Uzbekistan. This exercise will enable both countries to share best practices in joint military skills, techniques and procedures. It will also enhance defense cooperation, further strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. This exercise will continue till April 28.
3 Telangana government declares heatwave, sunstroke and sunburn as state-specific disasters

The Telangana government has declared heat wave, sunstroke and sunburn as state-specific disasters . With this declaration, the affected families will be able to receive an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh per person under the State Disaster Response Fund. Citing recent studies by the Meteorological Department, the government said the state had experienced abnormally high temperatures last year, with 28 of the 33 districts recording more than 15 days of heat wave conditions. Till now, only Rs 50,000 was given to the heat wave affected families. As per the new order, the state will now be able to use up to 10 per cent of the annual State Disaster Response Force allocation to provide relief to victims of state-specific disasters.

Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has been ranked ninth among the world’s busiest airports in the year 2024. Passenger movement is projected to grow by 7.8 per cent from 2023 and 13.6 per cent compared to 2019. The airport has secured the ninth position due to expanding airline operations, advanced infrastructure and better global connectivity. Earlier, in 2018, Indira Gandhi International Airport was ranked the 16th busiest airport in the world. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the US has topped the global list by Airports Council International-ACI, serving more than 108 million passengers last year. It is followed by Dubai and Dallas Fort Worth airports .
5 NITI Aayog launched a report on “Automotive Industry: Strengthening India’s Participation in GVCs”

In April 2025 , the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) released a comprehensive report titled “ Automotive Industry: Empowering India’s Participation in Global Value Chains” . The report is the second in the series of Global Value Chains (GVC). It was launched by Suman Beri, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog . The report explores the transformational potential of India’s automotive component industry, outlining a strategic roadmap to enhance India’s presence in the global automotive ecosystem. India is set to become the fourth largest automobile producer globally, after China, the United States of America (USA) and Japan, with an annual production of around 6 million automobile units. The Indian auto industry produced over 28 million vehicles, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycles, from April 2023 to March 2024. India’s automotive industry contributes 7.1% to its gross domestic product (GDP) and 49% to the manufacturing GDP. India’s share in the global automotive component trade is around 3% (~ USD 20 billion).
6 Moody’s Analytics lowers India’s GDP growth forecast for calendar year 2025 to 6.1%

In April 2025 , New York (United States, USA) -based Moody’s Analytics , a subsidiary of Moody’s Corporation, released its latest report titled ‘ APAC Outlook: US vs Them ’. The report has lowered India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast by 30 basis points (bps) to 6.1% for calendar year 2025 (CY25) , down from its previous estimate of 6.4% (in March 2025). The report has cited potential risks to certain sectors such as gems and jewellery, textiles and medical devices due to new tariffs imposed by the USA.
7 India’s CPI inflation to average 4.3 per cent this fiscal year: Crisil

India’s CPI inflation will average 4.3 per cent in FY26 , with food, fuel and core inflation at 4.6, 2.5 and 4.2 per cent , respectively, according to Crisil’s latest report released on Wednesday. “This fiscal, we expect food inflation to remain under control given good rabi sowing, softening of global food prices and an expected above-normal monsoon,” the report said. The high base of last year will pull food inflation downward (statistically). The India Meteorological Department has forecast an above-normal monsoon for this fiscal, which should benefit the kharif crop.
8 Justice BR Gavai will be the next Chief Justice of India, CJI Sanjiv Khanna recommended his name

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the name of Justice B.R. Gavai as his successor . CJI Khanna will demit office on May 13 after a tenure of about 6 months in the country’s highest judicial post. Justice Gavai, who is in the race to become the 53rd CJI, will have a tenure of more than 6 months and will demit office on November 23, 2025. CJI Khanna has written a letter to the Central Government recommending the name of Justice Gavai, which is in accordance with the established tradition of the CJI nominating the most senior judge as his successor. As per the Memorandum of Procedure, the Center asks the outgoing CJI to name the successor just a month before retirement. Justice Gavai was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of India on May 29, 2019. In November 2003, he was appointed as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court and in November 2005 he became a permanent judge.
