It is now official that Deepika Padukone will not be part of the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt.
The first film, starring Prabhas, became a blockbuster, collecting over Rs. 1000 crore worldwide. But Kalki 2 has been delayed mainly because of Prabhas busy schedule.
Adding to the challenges, Vyjayanthi Movies released a statement confirming their split with Deepika. They mentioned that both sides mutually decided to part ways and wished her success in future projects.
In the first film, Deepika played Sumati, a pregnant woman central to the story. Her absence in the sequel has surprised many. Reports say differences over scheduling and commitments caused the exit.
