1 Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated the NIELIT Digital University platform
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, inaugurated the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Digital University platform in New Delhi . This platform is designed to democratize access to high-quality digital education . Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, also virtually inaugurated five other NIELIT centers located in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Balasore, Odisha, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, Lunglei, Mizoram, and Daman. NIELIT will work towards providing students with the necessary education through digital medium as per the needs of the industry. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, stated that the university will offer industry-oriented courses. The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, is playing a leading role in skill development and digital empowerment. With its extensive presence spanning 56 NIELIT Centres, over 750 affiliated institutes, and over 9,000 facilities, NIELIT has skill-trained and certified millions of students in emerging technologies in the electronics and ICT sector. NIELIT holds the status of a “Deemed University” under the Distinction Category from the Ministry of Education. Its main campus is located in Ropar (Punjab) and its eleven constituent campuses are located in Aizawl, Agartala, Aurangabad, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Imphal, Itanagar, Ajmer (Kekri), Kohima, Patna, and Srinagar. Its mission is to transform higher education in the field of electronics and information and communication technology through the use of digital technologies.

The Ministry of AYUSH conferred the National Dhanvantari Ayurveda Award 2025 on Professor Banwari Lal Gaur, Vaidya E.T. Neelakantan Moos and Vaidya Bhavana Parashar in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the academic, traditional and scientific fields of Ayurveda . The Ministry of AYUSH said that these awards honour individuals who have made significant contributions to the promotion, preservation and development of Ayurveda. The Ministry said that this year’s awardees represent a unique confluence of classical scholarship, living tradition and scientific innovation.
3 India-EFTA trade agreement comes into force
The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) came into effect on October 1. This agreement will bring $100 billion in investment to India over the next few years and create approximately 1 million direct jobs . This will further strengthen the trade partnership between India and Europe. EFTA includes four countries – Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. After the implementation of this agreement, trade between India and these countries will become easier. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that this is India’s first trade agreement that includes investment commitments. Its aim is to ensure balance of interests and fairness between the partner countries.
4 BSF launches AI based DSS system
To improve security along the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh , the Border Security Force (BSF ) on Monday launched a new control system, the Decision Support System ( DSS ), equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and geographic information systems (GIS). Called the Decision Support System (DSS), this system will enable BSF commanders to make faster, better, and more informed decisions by integrating a vast array of data and information related to border security . The DSS aims to make border security decisions more effective, accurate, and quick. It integrates sensor feeds, GIS data, incident databases, and other systems, creating a Complete Operating Picture (COP). Launched by : BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary. Coverage : Operational control along the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders. Key technologies : Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
5 ICC and UNICEF launch ‘Promise to Children’ campaign
In a powerful combination of sport and social responsibility , the International Cricket Council (ICC) and UNICEF launched the ‘ Promise to Children ‘ digital campaign during the 2025 ICC Women ‘s Cricket World Cup . The initiative aims to inspire players, spectators, and the global cricket community to commit to supporting equal opportunities and rights for children , especially those most vulnerable and in need. Supported by UNICEF National Ambassador and Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana and Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, the initiative leverages the popularity of cricket to mobilize people to advocate for children’s rights, including critical issues such as quality education, healthcare, nutrition, safe water, sanitation, and protection from violence.
6 Wildlife Week 2025 inaugurated by laying the foundation stone of ‘Namo Van’ in Manesar
Union Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav laid the foundation stone for ” Namo Van ” in Manesar, Haryana , on Thursday . The event marked the beginning of Wildlife Week 2025 celebrations. Haryana Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh was also present. Tree plantations were also organized at the event under the ” Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam ” campaign. School children, forest department officials, journalists, social activists, and various stakeholders actively participated. Several individuals who have made significant contributions to forest and wildlife conservation were honored at the event. Wildlife Week, celebrated annually from October 2 to 8, is a campaign to raise awareness among people across the country about the importance of protecting plants and animals. This year, the theme of Wildlife Week is ” Seva Parv ,” which aims to promote a sense of service and responsibility towards nature.

India and China have agreed to resume direct air services connecting designated locations in the two countries by the end of October . The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the civil aviation authorities of the two countries are engaged in technical-level discussions on the resumption of direct air services and amendments to the Air Services Agreement. Several initiatives have been underway since the beginning of this year as part of the government’s vision to normalize relations between the two countries. Flights will depend on the commercial decisions of designated carriers of both countries and the fulfillment of all operational criteria. Services will resume by the end of October 2025, in line with the winter semester schedule.

During Khadi Mahotsav 2025 , customers will be given a discount of 20% on Khadi clothes and 10% on Khadi Village Industries products till November 5. 11 Closing ceremony of Mondiacult 2025 in Barcelona
The closing ceremony of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MondiaCult 2025 – was held in Barcelona on 1 October 2025. The ceremony included a cultural presentation, followed by the reading of the conclusions of the Youth Forum, civil society interventions, the adoption of the outcome document, the oral report of MondiaCult 2025, and final remarks. India was represented at the closing ceremony by Ms. Amita Prasad Sarabhai , Additional Secretary, Ministry of Culture , who participated on behalf of Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture , Government of India . The Honourable Minister served as Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Region during MondiaCult 2025. 12 Government to make sound alerts mandatory in electric vehicles from October 2027
The Indian government has decided to make Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) mandatory in electric vehicles (EVs) to strengthen road safety . This rule will apply to all EV models from October 1, 2027. An Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) is a safety system that generates artificial sound from an electric vehicle to alert pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users to the vehicle’s presence. Electric vehicles run almost silently compared to conventional ICE vehicles, which increases the risk of accidents in crowded areas. With this rule, India will join the ranks of countries like the US, Japan, and the European Union, where this system is already mandatory.

Renowned actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been nominated in the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards 2025 for his powerful performance in Imtiaz Ali ‘s biopic ” Amar Singh Chamkila .” The film is a Netflix Original and has also been nominated in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category. It is India’s only entry this year. The announcement was made by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in New York ahead of the 53rd International Emmy Awards (to be held on November 24, 2025) . ” Amar Singh Chamkila ” is based on the life of renowned Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was known for his bold songs and popularity. He and his wife, singer Amarjot , were shot dead in 1988.
