The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is providing internship and student project trainee programs to offer valuable opportunities for involvement in space research and exploration efforts. Interested candidates will be able to enhance their skills for the rapidly expanding space industry, now. Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and PhD students who are Indian citizens pursuing or have completed their studies in Science/Technology from recognized Indian or foreign universities/institutions are eligible. Interns should have achieved a minimum aggregate of 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10.

The internship lasts for a maximum of 45 days, providing insights into the dynamic environment of ISRO. Allocation of internship projects depends on expertise, project availability, and the relevance of the course to ISRO’s activities.

Duration for different educational levels: This program accommodates various student categories, outlined below with specified educational criteria:

  1. Engineering (BE/BTech) students, after their 6th semester, for a minimum of 45 days.
  2. ME/MTech students, after completing the 1st semester, committing to a minimum of 120 days.
  3. BSc/Diploma students in their final year, embarking on a 45-day program.
  4. MSc students, after completing the 1st semester, for a minimum of 120 days.
  5. PhD scholars, after completing coursework, for a duration of at least 30 months. All participants must maintain a minimum aggregate of 60% or CGPA 6.32. Traineeships are awarded based on project availability and student suitability.

ISRO stresses the importance of practical experience and offers essential guidelines for interns and trainees:

  1. No stipend or financial aid is offered.
  2. Accommodation facilities are not provided, although guest house/hostel options may be available for a fee.
  3. Certificates are granted upon successful completion of projects/internships.
  4. Access is restricted to unclassified areas of ISRO labs/establishments.
  5. Authorization is required for publishing papers/reports related to ISRO activities.
