District Court, Banda: Bhagwan Das Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Banda, ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Mukhtar Ansari after his death on 28-03-2024 allegedly due to a cardiac arrest after being taken to Rani Durgawati Medical College.
An additional Chief Judicial Magistrate has been appointed as the officer in charge of the inquiry and a report has been asked to be submitted within a month.
Ansari was facing several cases and recently, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1990 fake arms license case. In 2023, a special MP/ MLA Court, Varanasi had convicted and sentenced Mukhtar Ansari to life imprisonment for murder of Awadhesh Rai who was the brother of a Congress leader Ajay Rai.
