Supreme Court grants interim protection to News Anchor Sudhir Chaudhary in Jharkhand FIR over Anti-Tribal remarks

Supreme Court: A Bench of Dr DY Chandrachud, CJI along with JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, JJ. granted interim protection for Aaj Tak News Anchor Sudhir Chaudhary in a matter pertaining to First Information Report (‘FIR’) registered by the Jharkhand Police under the (‘SC-ST Act’) over alleged remarks against tribal community while reporting arrest of former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Jharkhand High Court had earlier refused to stay proceedings against Sudhir Chaudhary, and thus, he approached the Supreme Court through the instant Special Leave Petition.
