Aligarh : The University Women’s Polytechnic, AMU announced the success of its entrepreneurship initiative, aimed at nurturing innovative business ventures among its students. The renowned “Costume Design & Garment Technology” Diploma course has played a pivotal role in equipping students with cutting-edge skills in design and marketing. Notably, the IV-Semester of 2021 introduced a Skill Development course as part of the program, further fostering the entrepreneurial capabilities of aspiring students.

Nine start-ups have emerged from the Diploma course in Costume Design & Garment Technology, and they are now registered on the prestigious “UDYAM” portal. These ventures have leveraged their relentless efforts and the support of the IVth semester students to establish themselves under the MSME, benefiting from various government initiatives, said Dr Salma Shaheen, the Principal of Women’s Polytechnic.

Among the remarkable success stories are Ms. Sidra Bilal’s “Ever Bloom,” offering enchanting hand-painted, printed, and dyed dresses; Ms. Zainab Moin’s “Napstar,” catering to the niche market of comfortable and functional soft pillows and cushions for kids; Ms. Aashi Sharma’s “Kids Ramp,” specializing in party wear dresses for children; and Ms. Shireen Kamal’s “Dolly’s Closet,” a go-to destination for beautiful Barbie Doll dresses at affordable prices with customization options.

Ms. Sara Khan’s “Twirls & Curls” targets the hair accessories market, while Ms. Laiba’s “Beaded Beauty” presents trending beaded and fabric jewelry. Ms. Suboohi’s “Hijabi” brand offers ready-to-wear fancy hijabs for girls and women, and Ms. Taiba Anam’s “Ethnic Attire” focuses on designer dupattas. Additionally, Ms. Shaista has established her boutique named “BEYOUTIFUL.”

Supervision of all this work was provided by Dr Sheeba Mansoor , OSD and teachers who include Ms. Sadia Naim, Mrs. Fauzia Khan, and Ms. Ikra Salim.
